ABOUT NIBIO
The Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) was established in July 2015 and is one of Norway’s largest research institutes. The goal of the Institute is to contribute to food security, sustainable resource management, innovation, and value creation through research and knowledge production within food, forestry, and other biobased industries.
NIBIO delivers research, managerial support, and knowledge for use in national preparedness, as well as for businesses and society at large. Approximately 700 employees are present in all parts of Norway. The main office is located at As in Akershus, just outside Oslo. NIBIO is organized into five divisions: Food Production and Society; Biotechnology and Plant Health; Environment and Natural Resources; Geography and Statistics; and Forest and Forest Resources.
The division of Forest and Forest Resources is responsible for forestry and rural science. The division has a broad field of research projects along the whole value chain, with close connections to industry and the leading international research environment.
NIBIO is subject to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food as an administrative agency with special authorization and its own supervisory board.
